INDOOR-OUTDOOR WET BAR EXTENDS OUTDOOR KITCHEN
For its Hunter Lane project in Katy, Texas, builder Dark Horse Homes and architect Garza Planning and Design aimed to build a “contemporary indoor-outdoor sanctuary that is as inviting as it is family-friendly.
Along the rear of the 5,128-square-foot home, large sliding glass doors open to dedicated outdoor living and dining areas that overlook a pool deck, a large patio, and professionally lighted landscaping. Adjacent to the outdoor kitchen, the team created an indoor-outdoor wet bar to eliminate the need for duplicate appliances on the patio as well as extend the life of the various kitchen devices. With this design, the area also is able to serve guests in the interior game room on the opposite side as well.
A custom corner “door” made at the height of a window and installed at counter height creates a seamless transition from the interior countertops to the exterior. Inside, the bar features ample cabinet storage, a bar sink, and several under-counter appliances, including a dual-zone wine fridge, a drawer-style fridge, a nugget ice machine, a dishwasher, and two flush-mounted wine chillers.
